DesignImportant Features and Hardware

With the AmpliFi HD System, you can display it as it has a tasteful design compared to other routers. The cube measures 3.9 (H) x 3.8 (W) x 3.9-inches (D). The exterior has a nice white finish and on the base, you have the LED lights. The six antennas are internal and the front of the device has a round, full-color LCD touchscreen.

On the display screen, you can view the time, date, and day. Once you tap the screen, the current internet speeds displayed. Tapping the screen again gives you access to the WAN IP addresses and current speeds. The great thing is the power points do not need plugging into the router and needs to stand close to a power outlet to work.

The mesh points have a two-part design the antenna and the 3-pronged base to connect to a power outlet. With the ball-and-cradle magnetic design, you can adjust the antenna reception. The signal strengths indicated on the antenna with 5 small blue lights.

At the rear of the router, you have four Gigabit LAN ports with a WAN port. There is a USB 2.0 port to connect external devices. At the bottom of the HD system, you find the reset button. The wireless routers designed with a CPU single-core 802.11ac circuitry.

The circuitry supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands with three antennas available for each band. The theoretical output speed of the AC1750 is up to 450Mbps on the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz offers you up to 1300Mbps speed. To configure the router you need to use the app.

You connect the router to your broadband modem with the back input and while displayed it looks as if you have an alarm clock displayed on your desk.

With the AmpliFi wireless router, you can manage your home network with your Android or iOS device. Further, it offers you automatic Band Steering to choose your radio band according to the location and load. Another handy feature is that you can separate the two bands to use them as SSIDs.

When using the app you get an overview screen with Performance, Diagnose, and Guest Manage icons. Here you can turn the sound on/off, adjust the LED brightness & display, set it on Night Mode and more. Other settings include Port Forwarding, DHCP server settings, and MAC Address Cloning.

One negative side is you cannot prioritize web traffic and parental controls, as it does not have the Quality of Service. There is, however, SSID name & password creation with WPA/WPA2 security, and Guest Network settings. Further, you can enable/disable the Band Steering or create divide the SSIDs for each user.
