Why choose the Linksys AC1200

The Linksys AC1200 (EA6100) is a reasonably priced wireless router with dual-band functionality. With the multi-band wireless network, you get a 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands.

DesignPrime Features

The Linksys AC1200 is not a wide router and measures 1.5-inches high by 6.8-inches wide with a depth of 7.8-inches. You can adjust two fixed antennas. You get four LAN (wired) ports, an Internet (WAN) port, small indicator LED lights, power switch, and a 2.0 USB port.

Linksys has packed the router with four fast 10/100 Ethernet ports and does not have Gigabit Ethernet ports. They used a MediaTek chipset comprising 580MHz CPU with an AC1200 circuitry cable. This offers you up to 300Mbps when used with the 2.4GHz band. The speed of the 5GHz band is up to 867Mbps.

On the underside of the AC1200, you have a reset button. The nice thing is you will have no problems setting up the Wi-Fi router. The installation process is user-friendly with the Linksys wireless interface. There are different widgets for ease of installation. With the widgets, you can control web pages with parental control, give visitors access to the guest network and you can view the status of your home network.

Other great highlights are the QoS settings, checking external storage, SSID naming, security mode, and network mode. If you are a MAC user, you will be pleased to know you get MAC Address filtering. The security feature allows you to enable/disable IPv4 and IPv6 protocol.

The AC1200 is nearly three times faster than a wireless N one with the next generation wireless-AC standard. For media intense transfers the 5GHz band offers you up to AC867Mbps and the 2.5GHz N300Mbps. Connect wired devices directly to the router via the four Ethernet ports. Moreover, for transferring data from external devices use the USB 2.0 port. With the Beamforming technology, the router directs signals directly to your mobile device.

This prevents your device from working hard to get the correct signal. For on the go management you get the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app to keep an eye on important information and administer your home network globally. You can configure DMZ settings, use the Media Prioritization, configure external storage, test the download and upload speed, and do port forwarding.
